It was wet AGAIN in Plymouth! We'd got to Plymouth at around 14:30 ish and it started doing that fine mist rain which get's you soaking without you knowing it... That didn't stop and at times it got heavier. We made our way to the track anyway and it was looking reasonably damp but the Ref seemed happy with it. Then suddenly, before the start of the meeting, IT STOPPED! Took a few races to get rid of the wet slime but once that was sorted a good meeting was had. Nasty incident involving Tom Brown and Jordan Frampton though. They were racing right up until the finish line when Jordan got a bit of speed and lost control of his bike (Almost like looping at the start) and fell off. The bike then continued going forward and collecting Tom Brown going in to the first turn. He wouldn't have seen it coming and it knocked him clean off and then took him in to the fence. Apparently suspected broken arm from what we've heard. I managed to get a picture of it happening, it's a little blured as I wasn't expecting it as the race had finished. But as you can see it was not a nice sight.

Good news is that x-rays on Tom B's arm have revealed no breaks - merely soft tissue damage. Bad news is that Plymouth are now trying to get Sam Martin's points from the first leg deducted!

I see in the local Plymouh newspaper that Mike Bowden has decided to protest about the Oxford team for the first leg, and there will be a ruling on Monday about deducting Sam Martins points, and if that happens they will be gifted the round.
I guess he thought the second leg was just a formality - Plymouth shouldn't be allowed to do this three weeks after the match when they're isnt an issue anyway.

Absolutely spot on LN! Now there appears to be NOTHING in the 2007 rulebook relating to the CL that would suggest we did anything wrong although some are saying that some sort of memo was circulated last year. Bearing in mind that we WEREN'T IN the CL last year and furthermore that there's nothing in THIS year's rulebook to suggest we did anything wrong, our belief is that it would be totally wrong if this tie is settled by anything other than a replay. Incidentally, on the day Peter Oakes DID ask the ref if what we did was ok and the ref saw nothing wrong in it nor, as far as I'm personally aware, did Plymouth lodge a protest on the day.

I always thought the procedure was to lodge your complaint and pay the fee to the referee at the meeting, not 3 weeks later. It appears that Mr Bowden thought we would just rollover in the 2nd leg,and as we failed to read the script now he complains.Poor loser in my opinion.

Any news from Monday over the Plymouth 'appeal'? Was it successful or not? Regards

Hi Richard, Plymouth's protest was turned down - see news section on the website. Still 3 trips to Plymouth then - and, of course, were the sides to finish second and third in the league, we'd meet again in the play-offs!! All the best Rob
