follwing the story in the oxford mail about the stadium being a possiable housing site. if the gra go and shut down the dogs.
now i want to ask a question and its simple if pepole want speedway to continue do think its time for a new track
i know the counry is in a poor state etc but i am going to be blunt and to the point
we all have heard storys about pepole being spotted at the stdium. i myself have heard of at least 3 or 4 pepole being seen at the track
i think its time to move on does anybody know where a suitable bit of land is i know there are things as planning permission etc
maybe its time for the ossc to come forward

i dont think there is much hope of oxford speedway returning as you have to look at clubs like leicester and move out of the ring road and i get the feeling there is no one to do that either financially or with the time and effort

Not much, if any available land in or near Oxford.
The very nature of many people in the area means that even if a site was found a reason would be found to say it was unsuitable.
Is there anyone with a spare £100,000-£200,000 needed for a basic stadium and track?
While Cowley stadium is still standing then it represents the best chance to get speedway back in Oxford. Its obvious that the GRA under control of their parent company aren't interested in running any sort of sport and every move they make is a deliberate one made to get the stadiums sold.
I'm sure the Council must be aware of this and they are the only ones who can give the go ahead for the stadium to be sold for redevelopment. The Council have already said want to see speedway back!

Unfortunately what i am hearing is that the council are not bothered about speedway back they are in correspondence with the stadium landlords and also they wouldnt find it hard for change of usage as the stadium is operating at a loss and the gra/risk capital have figures to prove this

looking at what beano82 has to say it looks like the end for speedway in Oxford for good because the gra/ risk capital have figures to prove they are loosing on the stadium.
now if the council are that keen to see the return of speedway why don't they find us a bit of land and sort out a suitable rent deal
take a look at Plymouth speedway mike bow den asked the council for a bit of land which he could rent reasonable rates and ok its not a mega stadium but they are building it up each year, and Plymouth council found the land and that land was unsuitable
so there must be a bit of land that the council may want to put to good use i seem to remember Steve purchase finding a plot of land near wheatley back in 2001 anybody know what happened to that

the council could end all this chat by actually saying that they are not going to change the use and maybe then the gra/risk capital may want to wash there hands of it
