I see that quad racing has been given the go ahead at Cowley stadium presumably on the speedway track and that the GRA say that no speedway has meant a loss of £80,000 in rent earnings per year!
Time for someone to knock on the door I'd say!

The Problem Is Scott There Have Been People Knocking On The Door About Speedway But Alas No Talks Have Taken Place Or Very Little.
Lets Hope Quad Racing Falls Flat On Its back,
£80,000 Is A Lot of money to loose each year maybe gra derseve to loose it

They are also asking for grasstrack 250cc & 500cc riders to race at the meeting so there will be some bikes there also the response has been high from top class grasstrack riders so why not support it you never know a good crowd could sway the stadium owners into getting speedway back

the biggest trouble will be for the riders fitting a speedway wheel in a grasstrack bike.its not that simple. alot of it .what sort of frame you have got.some are a bugger to fit in .

hi jasperwasp
not jumping any gun here, as for putting a 19 inch wheel in a grass track bike , done that 4 years ago for lewis denham, when he took part in a meeting at Somerset for a guy who had done 10 years racing in grass track. believe he borrowed it off of young Sam martin. goes in easy enough just got a bigger gap then normal as grass bikes run on 22 inch. as for the frame its same as a speedway frame only difference is grass bikes have 2 speed gear boxes to use when gating and a brake
as for the other bit i emailed Tony Nash who said that solo riders could enter as from Monday which was the 25th October

ian oxford . a speedway wheel fit in most frames .not all. the wheel when fitted is as you say theres a bigger gap..but you will find turning the bike on a small track .like oxford.will not give you the proper control of the bike ,thats why long trackers get the wheel back as far as they can , speedway riders like to get the wheel more forward as they can to give them more control of the bike on smaller tracks your answere to tony nash saying riders could enter on the 25th ,is wrong it closed on that day, when i recieved a email on monday.from tony . and i could be machine examiner that night, just waiting confarmation.

good luck with the machine examiner bit, not easy telling a rider his or her machines not fit to race, seen a few heated moments over that in the past. as for the 25th being the closing date for entry's, will be waiting to see who the solos are, as not seen much quad racing for a while not sure who the top riders are in that sport
