oxford speedway-is there a future

Friday October 26th 2007 was the last time speedway bikes were heard in anger at cowley.
Apart from the matches arranged by nick Andrews at various tracks the name of oxford cheetahs remains n the history books.

So will speedway return at cowley has there been any moves or is there any in progress to see the return of the sport

Or is it time to move on and set up a new track elsewhere, I know in the currant situation some say mad .over the last few years the sos team did a splendid job of running the grand prix bbqs now been taken over by the supporters club, I take it there must be a bit of cash around from them, maybe a good time to put it to good use

John Payne was on Radio Oxford yesterday and he says that someone with the necessary clout is going to try and reopen Oxford speedway next season. He sound hopeful!

I have heard the John Payne Interview on Radio Oxford and surprised at his optimism. I have corresponded personally with Clive Feltham at the GRA at Hall Green for about 18 months now and despite offering him considerable flexibilty and up-front guarantees he has completely declined any
discussion/meeting on any sort of future promotion at Cowley. It may be that he is reluctant to talk to me as I have not been in any promoting capacity before but if he was in preliminary discussions with another party I feel sure he would have said so in correspondence with me.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong, but for years now I and Oxford supporters have been given false hope.

there was an article in the speedway star that the local stadium mangment were looking at options to bring in more funds, and one of them was speedway, i think the situation needs to move in a postive direction

i still keep my machine examiners liecence going .just incase we get speedway back, hope it do come back next season,

well i have been told there was four meetings for grassers booked for next year, all so there is two more grass track clubs of thinking running meetings there, things begining to look bright, on that side
