Firstly let me apologise for bringing to your attention a Birmingham Brummies issue. I hope that you don’t mind and that I haven’t broken any forum rules. I believe that in issues such as this we are all ‘speedway fans’ and club loyalties come a close second.The temporary planning permission for speedway at Perry Barr, Birmingham is due to expire on 31st October 2009 and a new application for permanent planning permission has now been submitted and registered. The City Council are now inviting comments from interested party's and we would be very grateful for the support of speedway fans everywhere to ensure that Birmingham Speedway has a future.
Please address your comments to Birmingham City Council, Planning Office, 11th Floor, Alpha Tower, Suffolk Street, Queensway, Birmingham B1 1TU BUT IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU QUOTE PLANNING REFERENCE N/02660/09/FUL - any comments received without it will be discounted.
These can also be E-Mailed to: planning.enquiries@birmingham.gov.uk or on-line by using the website: www.birmingham.gov.uk/planningonline and keying in the reference number N/02660/09/FUL
Comments can also be made by telephone at 0121 303 1115 quoting the same refernce number.
When you leave your comments please include a phrase along the lines of ‘I support the planning application’ and do so fairly near the top. Indeed if that is all you want to put that would be fine.
The closing date for receiving comments is 29th July 2009 - but comments received after that date will still be recorded.
Points worth considering include: (Choose two or three so that we are not all posting the same.)
· As a supporter of a rival club you have/intend to visit Perry Barr and have/will spent monies In the local region.
* Isn’t the Bull ring shopping centre fantastic.
* Speedway has been a popular sport in Birmingham since 1928 and has been staged at Perry Barr for 39 years.
* Speedway at Perry Barr draws larger attendances than any other sport in the City except for soccer.
* Speedway provides trouble-free outdoor entertainment for all of the family and matches do not have a police presence or need the segregation of
supporters.
* Speedway is staged on one evening per week in the summer between 7.30pm and 9.30pm during which there are 15 races each lasting less than a
minute.
* A very high percentage of supporters who patronise Perry Barr, live in either Perry Barr itself or in the surrounding districts.
* Speedway provides the best value outdoor entertainment in Birmingham at less than a third of the cost of a football match.

Please help us to keep our track in operation. Every single comment counts and we know that we can rely on our friends from all tracks to rally to the cause.
