Having read the comments on this subject I feel I must put the record straight.
Until last week there was an agreement in place to bring speedway back to Oxford this would not have been Elite it would have been Premier and possibly Conference, My self and Ian Kirke had held meeting with the 2 other promoters involved in this joint venture and we had set out the plans which included names of riders who we had agreed would form the back bone of the 2009 team.
Last Tuesday morning we had a call to say that the agreement had been canceled and that Speedway would not now run, as you can imagine after the efforts of this year and the support we have had this news was the worst we could have received.
At this point in time I have not had the full and final version of why our agreement has been canceled and I cannot at this point in time reveal the other 2 promoters involved.
The official press release was added to the web site and I will get it added to the BSF for all to see, it should also appear in the speedway star this week.
I would like to thank everyone for their support in the short time we have been back on track, with regard to running a similar set up next year, I have publicly said that finance in the current climate is hard and I will not ask riders to put their life on the line for anything other than a decent wage so unless we can find a way of raising money then cheetahs will not be on track in 2009.
Thanks to you all
