thought id get the ball rolling with a look ahead to the visit from the dorset boys on sunday (weather permitting) ;D i think we will win about 55-37 our squad just looks so strong especially at the top end with Smethills,Frampton and Bargh (provideing they dont have PL duty this sunday) and with Sam starting to do really well we look really good looking at the Wildcats of Weymouth i think there main attack will be from Lee Smart but and the David Mason but im confident we can win!

Will Sam be there - isn't he riding at Mildenhall for Berwick? He is, and Barghy is also riding for IOW. Mind you Lee Smart is missing too for Weymouth Will make it more challenging but the boys can do it

I really hope I can get to see this one, and that the weather doesn't scupper my chances. Not been to see a match in the new era as I had a previous commitment two weeks ago, and last week I was in the USA. Not seen any live racing since the last Oxford v Belle Vue meeting and I'm starting to get withdrawl symptoms.

This one is changing by the hour! Newport v IOW is off, so Andrew Bargh is now available to ride for the Cheetahs. Birmingham v King's Lynn is off, so Lee Smart is now available to ride for Weymouth. Therefore, R/R for both teams is dispensed with. In addition, David Mason and Nathan Irwin were both injured at Weymouth on Friday. Mark Thompson makes his debut for the Wildcats in place of Mason, and Kyle Newman takes the place of Irwin. All the best Rob

Should be a good match. Both sides are missing riders, but have brought in some good replacements.
For Oxford, we are without Sam Martin (riding at Mildenhall) and Kyle Hughes (injured), it will be interesting to see how grade 1 Jerran Hart does in their place.
The postponement at Newport frees up Andrew Bargh, and the Cheetahs have a formidable top four of Smethills, Frampton, Bargh and Betson.
For Weymouth, well done to their management for reassembling a competitive team at short notice - Mark Thompson rides Cowley well and was largely responsible for our exit from the 2005 KO Cup at the hands of Mildenhall.
It will be interesting to see how Jay Herne fares around Cowley, as he's been clocking up some huge scores from the reserve berth for the Wildcats, although the Cheetahs have their own star reserve in the up-and-coming Brendan Johnson.
My prediction: Oxford 50 Weymouth 43 and another cracking night of CL Speedway at Cowley.
All the best Rob

Weymouth Wildcats = 44 1. Mark Thompson 1 2 1* 0 = 4 + 1 2. Sam Hurst 0 1* 1 2 = 4 + 1 3. Lee Smart 2 6^ 1* 2 1 = 12 + 1 4. Terry Day F 1 0 1 = 2 5. Karl Mason 2 1 1 = 4 6. Jay Herne 3 3 3 3 2 3 0 = 17 7. Kyle Newman 1 0 0 = 1 Team Manager: Jem thingyen
Heat Details 1. Bargh, Smethills, Thompson, Hurst 63.27 5-1 2. Herne, Johnson, Newman, Hart, 63.89 2-4 (7-5) 3. Frampton, Smart, Blake, Day (fell), 63.49 4-2 (11-7) 4. Betson, Mason, Johnson, Newman, 64.09 4-2 (15-9) 5. Frampton, Thompson, Hurst, Blake, 63.55 3-3 (18-12) 6. Bargh, Smethills, Mason, Newman, 64.29 5-1 (23-13) 7. Smart (tact), Betson, Day, Hart, 62.95 2-7 (25-20) 8. Herne, Bargh, Hurst, Johnson, 64.46 2-4 (27-24) 9. Herne, Frampton, Mason, Blake, 63.29 2-4 (29-28) 10. Another terrific advery for CL speedway from 2 highly committed sides.
For Oxford, Lee Smethills (tonights winner of the Linda DeBoise Memorial Trophy) was outstanding, he was superbly backed by Andrew Bargh and well backed up by Danny Betson and Jordan Frampton. Dan Blake had a poor night and Jerran Hart was always going to find life tricky on hisd first visit against such stong opposition. Brendan Johnson deserves praise for a gutsy and battling display in which he never gave up at any point despite struggling from the gate. His Heat 14 ride was without doubt the matchwinning ride as it allowed the Cheetahs pair to ride defensively had they needed to in the last race
For Weymouth, don't knock Mark Thompson too much, he battled hard on a slick and dry track on a night where he was poor out of the starts.Sam Hurst was very competitive after his first ride, Lee Smart was one of the quickest riders on the night and on a grippier track could have made up for his poor gating by making passes that he threatened to make. Karl Mason was on the pace for me and a little unfortunate to miss out in Heat 13 (although someone had to) Kyle Newman was anoth in his first ever meeting and will be better for the experience. Jay Herne is special, stunningly quick out the start and soon sorted out the fastest line before being outgated by Smethills and Betson in 13 and well and truly mugged by Andrew Bargh in Heat 15 in a cracking ride
Anoth good night for the Cheetahs, a win in Heat 15

Well, I finally got to see my first match of the new era.
Was it the best match I've ever seen? No.
Was it the best racetrack I've ever seen? No.
Was it the closest match I've ever seen? No, but very close none the less.
Was it the best racing I've ever seen? No.
Did I see 14 riders 100% committed to putting on a show and doing their best?
Emphatically YES.
It was nip and tuck for quite a while, with Jay Herne proving to be a real thorn in the Cheetahs side. However, Lee Smethills defeat of the previously immaculate Herne in heat 13 set the stage for a brilliant climax, with the undefeated pairing of Smethills and Bargh wrapping the match up with a 5-1 in heat 15.
Great night, and a fine match. Have I really got to wait 2 weeks for the next installment?
One last point - wouldn't the Cheetahs be stronger with Andrew Bargh riding at 4 instead of 2?

Fantastic result for the Cheetahs! Great night of racing action. It was so cool to say to my missus that the Cheetahs won again!
I have not said that for a long time!
All the best
Vince

great performance hart can be forgiven for his 3 ride 0 as it was his first time Mr Smethills was brilliant yet again as was Barghy and Frampy i agree with you John about Andrew slotting in at 4 with Jordan at 3 would make us stronger as that would give Lee maybe Sam Martin at no2? or Dan Blake etc and that would benefit Blake to maybe have Lee try to help team ride with him im sure the management will find the best starting line up soon though well done for yet another fine meeting looks like the good times are slowly coming back (fingers crossed)

Well, I finally got to see my first match of the new era. Great night, and a fine match. Have I really got to wait 2 weeks for the next installment? You could always get on a Harley and take it for a test ride to Weymouth on Friday! One last point - wouldn't the Cheetahs be stronger with Andrew Bargh riding at 4 instead of 2? Only reason he was programmed at No.2 last night was that, originally he wasn't going to be there and, given that, we would have used R/R at No.2

You could always get on a Harley and take it for a test ride to Weymouth on Friday! Sadly Bryn, by the time I finish work on Friday even my amazing 1700 cc Harley couldn't get me to Weymouth in time!
